The Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists, CASMET, is an independent, non-governmental Association representing more than 1500 Medical Laboratory Professionals throughout the Caribbean, Central America and the Dutch Antilles.

CASMET Website

The Web site is still under construction and will have new features added such as the photos of CASMET board members, excerpts from function held by CASMET and it’s affiliates, along with schedules for continuing education seminars and online continuing education material. Application forms and registration forms for BGM 2009 will soon be available online. Continuing Education (CE)

Efforts to increase the number of CE exercises offered by the Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists (CASMET) will continue with online CE materials. This service will be provided to CASMET members using the Moodle platform. Members will be able to log in and view courses available online. You will be able to read articles, participate in tutorials and complete quizzes in order to obtain CE credit. In the near future we also hope to make materials from our Phlebotomy courses available online.

Database

The Database program is now being used for continuing education and BGM registration. The program has also been used to store membership and registration information. American Medical Technologists (AMT)

The AMT Journal has been revised, it now has a new look and layout and is said to be an improvement on the previous versions. The AMT Home office has moved.

St. Kitts and Nevis

The phlebotomy course in St. Kitts had attracted twenty two (22) persons. We wish them continued success in this vital area of training. Persons completing the course will be able to seek certification with the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

The representative in Belize had been working with the Ministry of Health to prepare documents concerning Medical Laboratory professionals. Nassau Enews vol 2
