Affiliation

American Medical Technologists ( AMT ): A very significant landmark in CASMET's history was the signing as an "affiliate" with the American Medical Technologist ( AMT ) at the Biennial General Meeting in Miami, in October 1989. The affiliate was signed by the President of CASMET, Mr. James Mackey and AMT's President, Mr. William Robbins. As a result of this agreement an amendment was made to AMT's bylaws which allows CASMET to function as an international society within AMT.

International Association of Medical Laboratory Technologist (IAMLT): In 1964, CASMET (formerly the Society of Medical Technologists, W.I.) gained membership from the International Association of Medical Technologists. Representation at IAMLT meetings held in 1961, 1966, 1970 and 1980 were made. Membership was discontinued for sometime due to the unavailability of funds to pay the annual dues. In 2001, membership was renewed by the Trinidad and Tobago Branch of CASMET at the GAD in Vancouver, Canada. The other branches are still considering membership.
