Medical Laboratory Technologist

Laboratory Services & Consultations Ltd is a leading provider of laboratory testing services with eight locations throughout St.Lucia.

Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified nationals of St.Lucia and the CARICOM member states to fill the below mentioned position.

Medical Technologist:

Position Summary:

This Technologist shall be responsible for general supervision of routine work in conjunction with other senior Technical staff. This Technologist shall be responsible for performing analyses and issuing of results and assisting in the implementation of the Quality Management System.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Perform analyses as required in Microbiology, Immunohematology, Serology, and Chemistry. Experience in Cytology and Histopathology will be an asset.

 Provide on-call, weekend and Holiday laboratory services.

 Participation in the development of Standard Operating Procedures.

 Participation in the quality assurance and in-service continuing education programmes.

 Performance of routine maintenance of equipment and help maintain a safe work environment.

 Supervision and training of junior staff. Qualifications and Experience:

 Three year diploma in Medical Technology or the equivalent from an institution or programme recognized by CASMET.

 At least three (3) years experience as a Medical Technologist.

Skills, Knowledge and Ability:

 Excellent oral and written communication skills

 Ability to write laboratory procedures

 Good knowledge of modern laboratory methods, techniques and equipment.

 Good knowledge of sources of current scientific information pertaining to Medical Laboratory Technology.

 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

Remuneration: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in keeping with the salary scale in St.Lucia.
